SIX members of Tavistock Swimming Club competed in the ASA South West Regional Short Course Championships which took place at Millfield School, Street in Somerset.
They swam in 25 events, achieving 17 personal best times and qualifying for four championship finals.
Competing in her first regional competition was Harriet Edwards who produced a good swim in the 200m breaststroke. Matt Edwards was fifth in the 200m freestyle championship final, a fourth place in the heat declared final 400m freestyle, just missing a sub-four minutes time by 0.8 seconds. Matt also qualified for the 200m butterfly final.
Kieran Rookes achieved two sixth places in the 50 and 100 metre breaststroke finals. To qualify for the 100m breaststroke final, Kieran produced a 2.5 second personal best time. Nathaniel Rookes also gained personal best times in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.
James Anderson swam a superb 200 metre butterfly event to earn himself a 7.5 second personal best time and move up the rankings. He also achieved personal best times in his other three events. Cameron McGurk produced personal bests in both his freestyle events – the 50 and 100m.
It was an excellent set of results from the Tavistock swimmers at this high level regional meet.
