Tavistock seconds 0

Crediton seconds 20

Tavistock welcomed Merit league leaders Crediton and the opening exchanges were very stop start, with both sides' struggling to put together any constructive moves.

With the visitors then starting to enjoy the majority of possession, Tavistock spent much of the remainder of the opening 40 minutes in their own half, but some fine defence kept the lively, well organised Crediton side at bay.

The visitors did manage to break through once after 30 minutes for an unconverted try and a half-time lead of 5-0.

With the advantage of the slope, Tavistock came much more into the game in the second half.

Tavistock forwards Pete Davis; skipper Lee Easton; Joe Pook and Andrew Griffiths all made a number of good runs and set up several attacks from the threequarters, where centres Ollie O'Reilly and Richard Coker stretched the Crediton defence on a number of occasions, without quite managing to make the breakthrough.

Midway through the half, following a period of pressure from Tavistock, the visitors broke out and a fine handling move produced a second try. With Crediton having six replacements and the home side only one, the final period saw the visitors able to introduce a number of fresh legs and with the home side tiring, Crediton ran in two more tries before the final whistle. The final scoreline was not a fair reflection on a hardworking, determined display by Tavistock, against a side who are deservedly top of the league.
