Devon seconds B Tavistock seconds v Alphington seconds TAVISTOCK hoped to keep up their good run against a side below them in the league at The Ring on Saturday. However, missing several players it was always going to be a difficult task. Alphington batted first and some wayward bowling enabled them to put on 70 for the first wicket. Andy Gauler slowed the run rate with 1-23 from his nine overs but apart from Rob Milligan's 3-47 the rest of the bowling was disappointing. Alphington reacted 205-5 at halfway a score that was always going to prove difficult. The loss of two early wickets did not help Tavistock's cause. Sam Willets and John McGahey repaired the damage and at 83-2 the game was there to be won. Unfortunately McGahey missed a full toss and Sam Willets ran himself out leading to a flurry of dismissals which ended with the side being bowled out for 121. Visiting spinners Durey and Bright took seven wickets between them — a poor result for Tavistock on a game they could have won.
