WITH temperatures barely above freezing both teams attempted to settle down into the game.
The pitch was bouncy which made the passing less predictable and challenged the Tavistock players.
The visitors battled to hold possession and move the ball through the St Austell players with several early strikes going wide. Despite this midfielders Bruna, Armstrong, Honey and White continued to penetrate the home defence. A superb strike from visiting captain Laura Armstrong was saved with a diving touch of the stick from the Saints keeper.
St Austell's central players were quick on the break and tested the defence of Colston, Evans and Colwill but at half-time it remained 0-0. Tavistock firsts come out more determined after the break and within minutes a short corner was converted by Abi Hall.
More end to end play continued. A second short corner was awarded to Tavistock following a foot in the D. Abi Hall who was positioned on left post received a firm ball from Armstrong and struck the ball in to make it 2-0 to Tavistock.
The final goal came after some superb passing around the D from Becca Martin and Becky Lamb; the keeper dived for the ball and Tavistock converted with a deflection into the goal.
Tavistock Ladies first eleven must win all of their final games and stay on top of Trelawney division one to make the move up to South Division next season.
