THE Tavistock Area Schools cross country took place on February 11, seeing the first of three events which will decide the cross country champions of 2015. It was cold but dry and with a huge turnout of runners and their parents.
The year 3 and 4 fun runs took place first with a record number of entrants this year. Medals were awarded to first, second and third placed boy and girl.
Alice Bickley of Whitchurch won the year 5 and 6 girls' race closely followed by Helena Woodbridge-Harris (Horrabridge) in second and Krystina Cade (St Andrew's) third. Tavistock won the girls' team event.
The boys' race was won by Joe Dix of St Peter's, Dan Luckham of Whitchurch was second and Charlie Elkington of Tavistock was third. St Andrew's took the team race.
After this fixture, Tavistock lead the table with St Andrew's second and Whitchurch third. Whitchurch are hosting the second cross country event on March 4.
