THERE was a three way meeting of Tavistock, Stonehouse and Wadebridge RFC teams which took place on Sunday on the all-weather pitch at Plymouth Albion.

Stonehouse and Tavistock were the first to meet, with an even pair of sides.

Ben was the first to score for Tavistock, capitalising on a loose ball and running three quarters of the pitch to get his team off the mark. Barney H displayed some superb tackling with able support from James, Callum and Seb. The home team soon fought back though with two tries of their own, but the score was levelled at the end of the first half with a try from Finn.

In the second half Tavistock were finding their feet with some convincing rucking and continued pressure from Callum and Dylan in particular.

A pass from Mack found Luke on the wing who ran it in for a try. Matthew followed suit with a long run aato score another for Tavistock.

Stonehouse scored another try but the score line ended in the visitors’ favour.

AFTER the game between Wadebridge and Stonehouse ending 20-5  to the Camels’ side Tavistock got off to a slow start against Wadebridge.

Despite consistent tackling from James, Sam and Max  the Cornish team managed three  tries in the first half without Tavistock troubling the score sheet.

The second half however brought a more determined Tavistock against a tiring opposition.  Luke scored two tries in quick succession and Matthew , Barney, and Ben provided some excellent tackles.

However, the comeback was short lived with Wadebridge scoring again to seal the victory. It was though, a great effort from all the Tavistock boys against a strong side.

Tavistock U9s 8 tries

THIS was a really superb team performance from a Tavistock side who showed some great rugby skills both in attack and defence.

Lovely passing along the line from Dan, Austin and Nathan put in Lewis for his first try. He very quickly scored a hat-trick, with some great looping runs around the Sharks’ defence.

In defence Tavistock were strong too, twice stealing the ball from the Sharks’ right on their tryline after turning over seven tackles in a row. William TY, Dan, Ernie, Dominic and Lex put in some crunching tackles to win the ball back for Tavistock.

Nathan too was always in amongst the action and quick to pick up loose ball, using it to great effect to score four tries himself.

A lovely bursting run through from Dominic saw Dan right on his shoulder to take the ball and touch down just before the final whistle.

Stonehouse Sharks’ U9s 4 tries

Tavistock U9s 9 tries

FEARLESS tackling was the order of the day in this match after Tavistock won the toss and William A powered through to score the first of his hat-tricks straight from the first whistle.

Tavistock have really started looking for an early pass and there was some lovely passing rugby between William A, and George M to put Alastair through for a try.

Gabriel, Jack and Matthew were again fearless in their tackling as was Finlay who put in a lovely weaving run to score. Again Tavistock were swift in picking up loose ball.

Alastair made a tremendous run almost the full length of the pitch and was lucky to have George M in support when he was tackled just short of the line allowing him to get on the scoresheet too.

There was some lovely running in this game with Max zigzagging through the defence to touch down and Jack found great space to score twice.
