Penryn first XV 39
Tavistock first XV 0
TAVISTOCK travelled away to last season’s Western Counties outfit Penryn, in what was to be a tough rugby encounter.
In a role reversal of last week, Tavistock started with good intent making in roads into the Penryn defence. This was short lived, however, as Penryn calmed the storm and had a pushover try shortly followed by capitalising on an overlap.
Tavistock remained in the game and defended doggedly; that being said they could not get their hands on the ball, only mustering together a maximum of six phases at a time. With the half time score closing in at 22-0 a good start with the ball was needed early in the second half. Unfortunately for the visitors it took only seconds into the second half for Penryn to clinch the vital bonus point try despite a superb try saving tackle from Jack Glover.
With two further tries being scored after Penryn’s busy eight orchestrated a number of moves, Tavistock finally woke up and strung together an excellent final 15 minutes.
