Tavistock seconds 5
OPM seconds 29
TAVISTOCK RFC?seconds turned up with a scratch side due to the number of players unavailable but could boast strength in depth as the fixture was fulfilled.
P J Wilcox had brought a couple of friends which made the side up managing to have one substitute in a man who would not let the side down, Martin Shoulders.
In a disastrous start for Tavistock, with players playing out of position, Old Plymouth Mannameadians ran through the home side at ease and did not take long to score.
Soon Tavistock were 29-0 down and the team was disappointed with what had happened in the first half.
In the second half, after reorganising, things turned around for Tavistock. The front row of Dave Welsh, Dan Parr and Joe Bartlett started to take control with the pack now driving a much heavier OPMs’ pack backwards the backs started to run at their opposite numbers.
Damian Dee had a couple of good runs as did James Poad; P J Wilcox playing at ten had a good game with his tackling and commitment earning him man of the match.
The only Tavistock score was by Andrew Griffiths from a five metre scrum when the home side drove OPMs over the line.
This was a great effort from all the Tavistock men to ‘win’ the second half 5-0 after being 29-0 at the break.
