THE Rotary Club of Hatherleigh was pleased to pick up the baton this year and to organise the Ruby Run for the first time. This was the 16th run of the series and the first event since 2017.
Bob Luckhurst from Hatherleigh Rotary told the Times: ‘As novice organisers, we were fortunate to have much help and support from the previous organisers - both before and during - for which we are very grateful. We were blessed with good weather overall, with just one isolated shower, possibly helpful to the runners in particular.’
There were 165 individual runners and six teams of six for the relay. There were more than 20 walkers.
The overall male winner of the half marathon run was Paul Piper, with Stephen Skinner the overall runner up. The overall female winner was Katie Littlejohns and runner-up Helen Stevenson. Full details of all winners can be seen on the Ruby Run website: rubyrun.co.uk .
The organiser thanked all the race sponsors, especially to Made Well CIC along with all the volunteer helpers, including cadets from Okehampton.
