A GOOD crowd of athletes took part in the Tavistock Carnival Run and Fun Run on Sunday, organised by Tavistock Rotary Club in conjunction with the town's athletic club and West Devon Borough Council.
There were five mile races for men and women, and a one-and-a-half mile fun run for under 18 boys and girls.
The race, started by the Mayor of Tavistock, Cllr Anne Johnson, started at Kilworthy Park and wound its way along the cycle track to Crease Lane and then out to Mill Hill and back again which included some steep hills on the return.
Members of Bere Alston Trekkers (Bats) and the Saturday Ladies took part in the races, some of them running in their first event.
First lady home for the Bats and third lady overall was Maria Kushnirov.
First male Bat and second man overall was Nathan Newton.
There were other great Bat performances for Rachel Wood, Fran Morgan and Phil King with Dotty Allan running as a marshal.
