Tavistock ladies’ firsts 4

TAVISTOCK travelled away to Bodmin to open the second half of the season and were hoping to start on a high.

It proved a slightly slower start than Tavistock were used to but they certainly showed composure on the ball and controlled the game. Within four minutes the Reds took the lead following Fenwick pouncing on the ball in the D to slip it neatly past the Bodmin keeper.

In a matter of minutes Tavistock’s Fenwick made it 2-0 following some great skills from Lamb senior along the base line, who slipped it back to Fenwick, who flicked it passt the keeper’s right glove.

With Tavistock on a high they kept piling the pressure on the Bodmin defence. After winning a short corner Nevin stepped up at top of the D with a strong strike; following a great save from the keeper, Fenwick smashed home to take it into half time with a 3-0 lead for Tavistock.

The visitors opened the second half with a higher tempo and had some great opportunities at goal following some threatening attacking play by Law, Lamb and Nevin.

Bodmin kept working and created several opportunities, which a strong Tavistock defence calmly kept clear. Despite some superb saves made by Viggers, Bodmin scored following a deflection off captain Scott from a short corner strike.

Tavistock finished the game with a beautiful team goal starting from defence, through to midfield; a clever ball through to Lamb senior, who beat the Bodmin defence and slipped it to Law to strike home to complete the win.
