TAVISTOCK ladies’ first team were sitting just above White Eagles in the league table and it was always going to be a tough game for the home side.
The Reds started slowly against the Tiverton team and took a while to find their game, and immediate pressure was applied on the defensive line.
Tavistock began to find their feet and played some stunning linking play through midfield and forward line — the ladies created countless opportunities but struggled to get anything past the determined White Eagles’ goalkeeper.
Soon after Tavistock were awarded a penalty flick, Fenwick stepped up and opened the score.
It did not take long and the away side soon came back and batted a loose ball in the air passed Viggers to take the score line to 1-1.
More goals soon followed into the second half, and it was the away side who took the lead. Tavistock were again awarded another penalty stroke, Fenwick cleanly flicked passed the keeper to take it back to equalise.
Proving an end to end game the away side caught the Tavistock defence out on two occasions and opened the score to 2-4. Tavistock kept working hard and saw a late goal from Fenwick to complete her hat-trick, but despite the teams efforts it was too little too late and the Reds took another defeat at 3-4.
n This week Tavistock ladies are away to Exe ladies two who have already guaranteed themselves promotion from the South division.

IN the first half Exeter University were awarded three penalty corners, none of which were converted.
Pollock’s quick step and Patterson’s composure for Tavistock saw the back line fight off any attempt at goal.
The ball soon found itself in the attacking circle for the visitors where Lamb senior hit the baseline, passing the ball towards the penalty spot but the shot went just wide of the post. The half-time score remained at 0-0.
In the second half Tavistock’s Nevin, Fenwick and Headon found themselves covering the pitch, with the play end to end.
Play switched ends once more with the Uni side breaking through and a strong cross from the left midfield found a player, who hit the ball past Tavistock keeper Mills Hicks.
This did not deter Tavistock who linked well through the defence and midfield. Lamb junior won a free hit on the opposition’s circle; a quick pass and a strong hit in from Scott landed Fenwick with the ball on her reverse but she hit the left post.
