The DARTMOOR Radio Sailing Club organised and ran the first of six winter race meetings st Shaugh Lake on October 10. Thirteen boats were entered, all of them belonging to the International One Metre class.

The weather was overcast, the wind was easterly varying between 12 and 23 mph, with occasional stronger gusts. The racing started around 11am on a standard Model Yachting Association course.

The start was to windward with a close hauled beat to the windward mark, followed by a reach to the spreader mark, and then a downwind run to the leeward mark, with the finish again a beat from the leeward mark to the line. Each race consisted of two laps of the course, and during the day 16 races were run.

The scores will count towards the final tally at the end of the series in March 2016.

Results: 1, Paul Newman; 2, Jerry Lock; 3, Dain O’Driscol.
