FOUR runners from the Tavistock Run Project took to the streets of Reading to take part in the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday.

The race itself is a relatively fast course that takes you through the town and university, with a stadium finish at the Madejski Stadium, More than 19,000 people took part this year making it one of the biggest races in the UK.

In windy conditions it would be tough for runners to get any personal bests, but two Tavistock Athletics Club members Sam Lake and Emma Dooney both ran excellent races to achieve personal bests.

Sam came in at 1 hour 26 minutes 3 seconds to finish fifth in the over 35 female category beating her previous best by three minutes and Emma finished in 1.49.21 following on from a strong run in Bideford two weeks ago to get a two minute personal best.

Ben Neale from Tavistock Athletics Club and Matt Head from Bere Alston Trekkers also ran strong races with Ben finishing 172 in a time of 1.18.39 and Matt, in his first half marathon of the year, finished well in 1.26.40.
