FIVE senior boys from Tavistock Swimming Club competed in the ASA South West Region Youth Championships, which took place at the Plymouth Life Centre at the beginning of this month. James Anderson did five events, achieving three personal best times in the 50m and 200m butterfly and the 400m freestyle and was close on his other two events, the 200m and 1,500m freestyle. Kieran Rookes competed in three events, achieving a personal best time in the 50m backstroke and was close to personal best times in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events. Nathaniel Rookes competed in four events — 50m and 100m backstroke and the 50m and 100m breaststroke, achieving personal best times in all his events. Iain Chalmers and James Lake also competed in their 50m races — 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly respectively. Head coach James Lake said: 'We have had more than double the number of qualifiers from last year and a greater number of events for which they had qualified. Well done guys, and let's keep raising TSC standards.
