Teign A 1
Okehampton A 4
OKEHAMPTON were looking to maintain their 100% start to the season with a trip to Teign. This being the last game in a group of six before a series of replays.
There was early pressure from Teign but strong committed tackles from the Oke back four of Mark Bingham, John Jarvis, man of the match Alex Osman and Tom Hutchings. Okehampton contained a string of attacks and anything that did get through, George Morgan stood tall and produced some good saves.
The front four of Chris Luxton, Alex Emuss, Jake Lloyd and Stuart Jarvis and the holding two of Brett Lawson and Tim Morgan all provided some neat, tidy hockey and gave the Teign defence plenty to think about on several occasions.
At half time the game was poised at 0-0.
In the second half quick passes and great link up play by Oke led to the first goal.provided by the whole team.
A good tackle from Alex Osman, who retained the ball and fed it up field for Stuart Jarvis to pick out Jake Lloyd on the edge of the box; Lloyd then reversed it past a bewildered goalkeeper.
The second came soon after, as Brett Lawson played a one two with substitute Ross Davidson, for Lawson to play in Luxton for a tap in.
The third came from a well placed clearance from Tim Morgan and the fourth when Luxton was on his own who calmly rounded the keeper and from a tight angle slotted in.
It was a much better second half performance from the away team but in the closing stages the opposition finished nearly from the edge of the box.
