THE Tavistock Area Schools Cyclo Cross competition was held at Mary Tavy Recreation Fields on a cold, but mainly dry day.

Eight primary school teams from St Andrew’s (2), Horrabridge (2), Tavistock, Mary Tavy and Brentor, St Peter’s and Whitchurch took part. Justin Knox of British Cycling ran the event with assistance from volunteers from Tavistock Wheelers and OCRA’s Mhairi McCall and Clive Marais.

The winning team was Whitchurch with St Andrew’s runners-up.

Individual winners were – girls: 1, Elsie Maguire (Whitchurch); 2, Holly Connor (St Andrew’s); 3, Clara Edwards (Horrabridge). Boys: 1, Henry Fletcher (Whitchurch); 2, Ollie Edwards (Horrabridge); 3, Joe White (Whitchurch).

Whitchurch will go to the county finals at Haldon Hill on March 15.
