OKEHAMPTON Running Club’s third race of the season the Oke Croak got a good turn out with a rare dry morning enticing runners to put on their trainers.
Those who turned up even got the chance to watch Mo Farah winning 5,000 metre gold at the Athletics World Championships in Beijing on top of Yes Tor on a smart phone.
Andy Vallance knows the route well having run the race many times before and led the way for ORC with a good third place overall. Race director Paul Crease finished in seventh place.
The previous evening, Mags Jarvis and Janett White went to Exeter for the Haldon Flyer and thoroughly enjoyed the five mile off-road race through the tracks of Haldon Forest with some good views over the Exe estuary.
In other club news, ORC’s Will Lamerton is in flying form and broke his own club record at the latest club mile time trial with a fantastic time of 4.30.

The next ORC race is the Sourton Tors race, a 2.6 mile race to the top of Sourton Tor and back. The race takes place on Wednesday, September 9 starting 7.15pm at the Bearslake Inn. All entries are on the night.
The ORCs beginners course starts on Tuesday, October 13. Anyone interested can turn up at Okehampton Rugby Club at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start.
