OKEHAMPTON MEN’S A 5
DUCHY B 2
OKEHAMPTON A matched up against their Cornish visitors from the Duchy in need of a win to stay ahead of the chasing pack.
Starting strongly Oke A piled on the early pressure. Some well worked short corners failed to deliver the first goal but a quick break in midfield from veteran Rowlands saw the deadlock broken as he drove into the D and squared to the waiting Jolley who tapped in.
From the restart Oke piled on the pressure and Duchy were barely able to break out of their own half and any threats they did create were comfortably dealt with by the assured back four of Rogers, Jarvis snr, Bowles and captain Lewis-Humbert.
A quick switch at a short corner left the Duchy keeper wrong footed before Hughes’ deft deflection found the backboard from a Rowlands strike. The visiting Duchy side appeared spurred by this second and they went in at the end of the first half at 2-1.
Some great use of their wide players Jarvis junior and Jecks saw the home side’s third as the former linked with Smith who smashed in his first of the game. 3-1.
Oke’s midfield and forwards worked tirelessly to create more chances through Morgan and Glanville. Duchy conceded a penalty flick and Rowlands calmly stepped up and converted. As the teams tired both scored a further goal apiece to give a final score of 5-2.
