FOLLOWING on from an enjoyable Summer league campaign, a mixed tournament in Okehampton and a summer of 'rush hockey the Okehampton Hockey Clubs will soon be starting their pre-season training programme.

Okehampton Ladies Hockey Club begin their pre season training on Wednesday, August 7, from 8-9pm at the all weather pitch at Okehampton College.  For members wishing to improve their fitness there will be a training session every Wednesday for half an hour starting at 7.30pm.  Any new players would be welcome

The ladies will be running two adult league teams this season with the first team playing in the West Women's Hockey League south division and the second team in the Petroc two division.

The ladies club will again be running 'back to hockey' sessions from Monday September 16, 8-9pm at the all weather pitch.  These sessions are for ladies who do not want to play competitive hockey but would like to come along and play for fun.

 This season the men will be running two league sides in the Davis Wood Hockey league; newly promoted the first team will play in South division one, and the second team in South East two. There will be a series of friendly warm up games before the league games start at the end of September.

Training / practice sessions for the men will start on August 6 on the all-weather pitch at Okehampton College, and sessions will run from 8.15pm to 9.30pm. New players are welcome to come along to the sessions and join in. On August 31 there will be a 'club day' on the all weather pitch for registration and once again new players will be more than welcome.

The club's junior section has developed over the last few seasons, and both boys' and girls' U14 teams have been entered into the EH Development leagues. U12s boys and girls teams have been entered into the Devon leagues, and it is intended to do the same again this season. Junior sessions will begin on September 14 for Year 5 to Year 10 children. All these sessions are run by English Hockey level two coaches.
