TAVISTOCK Athletic Club runner Jason Shipton is running two 24 hour runs this year to raise money for the prostrate cancer charity. He is training hard to be in the Hope 24 in Newham Park, Plymouth on May 10 and 11 followed by the Adidas thunder run on July 26 and 27 at Catton Park in Derbyshire. Jason has been running a number of years and has completed 11 marathons and four ultra-marathons. His last marathon was for the London Marathon this year where he took it as a training run for my two solo runs. Jason said: 'The last two years I have done the Adidas thunder run as a team event. We won the first year than last year came second so I decided to give myself a challenge by running the TR24 (Adidas thunder run) as a solo runner. 'The 24 Hour five mile trail run relay is for soloists and teams of two, three, five and eight, in male, female or mixed categories. The idea is to run as many laps as possible in 24 hours. Adidas Thunder Run is a 24 hour off-road 10K relay race against the clock. 'Whether you run solo or in a team of 2-8 it'll test your tactics, endurance, speed and team work. After London I want to do it for charity so I have chosen prostate cancer as my charity.
