THE derby between top of the league Okehampton seconds and mid table Okehampton thirds got off to an electric start.

Oke thirds’ player Viv Weatherington filtered effortless balls through the seconds’ midfield and piled the pressure on early in the first half.

The seconds did not relent with Elsa Frangleton and Lucy Wiseman making scorching passes around the thirds’ defence to set up goal opportunities. The first goal came after a triple play with Rochelle Woollacott and Nicky Strawbridge trick play popped the ball out for Elsa Frangleton to smash the ball past goalie Ella Kaye.

The seconds’ second goal score Alex Collins loft the ball into the top left corner of the goal, the first of her hat-trick.

The second half started like the first, with dominance coming mostly from the seconds. Captain Emma Wiseman played on the wings and defied the defence with quick passes in on goal for Zoe Curtis to pick up and to apply more pressure on defenders Sophie Whiteley and Lisa May.

Newcomer Katie Chapman (a third team player) was too hot for the seconds to handle at times, with quick one twos with thirds’ captain Jane Jones, this pair made defending the score line tricky at times.
