Conference South

Plympton Grammar School Old Boys 0

Tavistock 2

THE home side were looking to get some points on the board following defeat in their opening two games of the season.

It was the Reds who took the lead when Fenwick flicked low from a penalty corner beating the keeper and the post man at the left post.

Both sides were playing a controlled game and looked confident in possession without creating any clear cut chances.

PGSOB did go close from a penalty corner but fortunately for Tavistock the ball just missed by the left post.

With  less than 10 minutes remaning before half time Josh Walker doubled the Tavistock lead with a clever fnish at the back post — the ball creeping over the line depsite the best efforts of the PGSOG’s defenders to prevent the goal.

The poor weather conditions didnt help either side and contributed to a goalless second half.

The home side looked to build from Haes and Uden and the back linking with Hussey in midfeld but were unable to find the goal, their closest effort came from a Haes penalty corner strike that hit the post with less than two minutes remaining.

The Tavistock backline looked solid and with the influence of skipper Honey in midfield the Reds never looked like gaining anything less than the three points.

The win sees Tavistock sit at the top of Conference South ahead of Exeter University on goal difference — the two teams play each on Saturday.
