ON Sunday was the fifth and final Indoor Sportshall of the season but with the event clashing with the primary challenge at the Tavy 13, only nine young athletes went all the way to Dawlish.

Every event the young athletes took part in this season they took not only points for the club but points for themselves, with the best four out of five counting,

Even with a smalll number of entries Tavistock Athletic Club juniors took home 22 medals. The under 11 girls brought home a trophy for third over all and so did the U11 boys and U13 boys. However, the club dropped overall to fifth place.

Some of TAC’s young athletes were the weekend before representing Devon at the regional finals, where the U11 boys were the county champions and girls came second. While the U13 boys came second some points were not added to their score so Max Port and Joe Wheeler could be going to the National in April in Manchester.

While the U15 girls once again storm the regional finals and have a place at the nationals, Tavistock have an athlete going to the national in Jenny Milburn — it was a great way to end her indoor sporthall career as she is now too old to take part in indoor Sportshall. She was third overall in the individual category and the club hope Jenny will achieve more as she gets older and congratulate her on all the hard training she put in with all of her coaches she has had over the years. The club hope to produce more athletes like her.
