THE Moorland Ladies Darts League held their finals and presentation night at the Tavy Club in Tavistock.

Mrs M Bickell, the league's chairwoman, presented a cheque for £500 to Lesley Gibson of the Triangle Centre, Tavistock. They are a charity who provides treatment, support and information to local people who are affected by cancer, their families and carers closer to home. They have a drop in centre on a Friday at Tavistock community Hospital.

The league held three charity events during the season — a quiz night, a darts night and a race night to raise money.

The competition finals were followed by a moment of silence in remembrance of Barbara Bettles.

Trophies: The league winners were the Cornish Inn, Gunnislake, runners-up the Tavy Traders, Tavy Club, Tavistock.

The winners of the Knock-out Cup, Prince of Wales; runners-up The Cornish Inn, Gunnislake.

The singles' competition was won by S Holmes of the Red and Black Club; runner-up C Brighton, Victoria S C.

The doubles competition, A Howard and W Cann from the Cornish Inn; runners-up J Dean and B Adams of the Tavy Traders, Tavistock.

The mixed doubles L Evans and P Evans, Red and Black Club; runners-up were S Freeman and B Nash, Cornish Inn.

The threes competition was won by S Holmes, E Monk and L Gover, Red and Black Club; runners-up J Deves, F Robinson and S Bagnall, the Plume of Feathers.

The fours competition was won by W Cann, A Howard, N Curtis and N Nash of the Cornish Inn; runners-up L Walters, L Pollard, C Saunders and C Wiseman, the Duke of York.

The Captains' cup was won by D Frise of the Buccaneer Inn; runner-up J Dean, Buccaneer Inn.

The Tavy Traders won the awards for the most team tons with a total of 51 tons from league matches during the season and most team wins Cornish Inn with 38 out of 54 wins.

Most individual wins J Dean from the Tavy Traders (16 out of 18). Most individual tons C Downham, Tavy Club, 19.

Highest shot away L Evans, the Prince of Wales, with a score of 152. Highest shot out G Edge-Downing, Prince of Wales with a score of 90 out. Highest score (not including 180), C Downham of the Tavy Club 174.

There were fiveawards for a score of 180 – D Sampson of Victoria S C, S Watson of the Prince of Wales, J Dean of the Tavy Traders, D Frise of the Buccaneer Inn and D Over of the Cornish Inn.

S Perkins of the Tavy Club was presented with a bouquet of flowers for all her help and support over the year.

The league will be holding its annual meeting on Tuesday, July 23, at 8pm at the Tavy Club.
