Devon seconds B Tavistock seconds v Thorverton WHILE the first team were celebrating being champions of the B division, Tavistock seconds entertained Thorverton at The Ring. Wanting to consolidate their mid table position, Tavistock sent Thorverton in to bat and quickly made inroads. Callum Worth for Tavistock has definitely improved over the past few weeks, and his opening spell was speedy and accurate, taking three quick wickets to help reduce the opposition to 22-4. A recovery ensued, with Jack Sterling's 37 the main stay, meaning Thorverton finished on a below par, but respectable, 150. Mark Hopkins 2-15 backed up Callum Wort's 3-19 and Sam Willet's 2-26 in a good all round bowling performance. Tavistock started disappointingly, losing two wickets for 30 runs but captain Marc Webber and Freddie Jayarajah got the innings going. Both were out when looking to increase the scoring rate. Wily John McGahey kept calm to see the side reach the target with four overs to spare. Callum Worth's cameo of 18 not out included some powerful shots. Tavistock therefore will finish comfortably in mid table after a shaky start to the season.
