CONSERVATIVE A went to West Devon D knowing that with challengers West Devon A playing bottom of the Tavistock Snooker League, nothing other than a convincing win would do to hold on to their top spot. This they did in style with a convincing maximum five frame haul.
Cook for Con A earned a good win over Shrimpton while Evans made it two for Con A but not until he had weathered a superb 20 break comeback from the rejuvenated Decieco, who could count himself unlucky not to have landed on the black during this break to see the game off.
Lacey made it three for Con A as he took full advantage of an 'off colour' Murton. Carruthers (24) rattled through his frame giving Shoulders little look in to make it 4-0. Despite some intermittent potting from May it was Babb for Con A that took control of the final frame and duly completed the maximum five point haul for his team.
West Devon A romped to a 5-0 win over bottom side Conservative C, with four of the latter's side not, or barely, making double figures.
Con C's Roffey was no match for West Devon A's Morris with Morris dominating from start to finish. After a scrappy start to the second frame with both players missing opportunities it was West Devon A's Heathman that found enough rhythm to eventually see the frame off comfortably.
Con C's Jago (senior) was no match for a rampant Rich who slotted in a 37 break to seal the match. Taylor made it four for West Devon A as he took the sting out of Neale's potting game to ease past him.
The only high point for Conservative C was stand-in Toby Jago who although losing managed to take 'high flying' Emptage to a black ball game before finishing up just short. Toby's 43 points was three more points than the rest of his team mate's total scores put together. This was a much needed result for West Devon A to keep them in touch at the top of the table.
