A WORLD record-breaking runner from Tavistock is hoping to shatter another record – and raise £3,000 to help less-fortunate young people.
Adam Holland is hoping that people and businesses in West Devon will back his efforts to help vulnerable children as he only has to December 31 to reach his charity target.
The long distance runner Adam Holland wants to become the first person to complete ten marathons in under three hours in ten days and to take part in the record attempt in May his goal is to raise £3,000 for the Brathay Trust, a charity that works with vulnerable children.
In 2009 he ran the fastest 10 marathons in 10 days (32 hours 47 minutes 03 seconds) at the 2009 Brathay Challenge, Brathay Hall, Ambleside, United Kingdom, from 8 May to 17 May 2009 earning a Guinness World Record for the fastest male to complete ten marathons in ten days; he was also the youngest person to run 100 marathons when aged 23 in 2010.
Adam said: 'This will be my third time running in the Brathay Windermere Marathon event. My goal is to raise over £3,000 for the Brathay Trust and break my world record of the fastest person to run 10 in 10 which I aim to do in sub three hours each.
'I have to reach £1,000 by the end of December 2013. I've raised £650 so far and I am looking for lead and supporting sponsors for my world record attempt in May 2014.'
