PUPILS from south east Cornwall will be among 3,000 Cornish students on June 28 competing in the 2013 Cornwall School Games.

The games, the biggest school sport event ever in the county will take place in Camborne, Pool, Redruth and Perranporth Beach.

Among the competitiors will be Callington Community College students along with primary pupils from Calstock School and Stoke Climsland School. Cornish sporting youth will compete in athletics, tennis, hockey, fencing, scooting, surfing, beach volleyball, gig rowing and surf lifesaving making the games a celebration of the Olympic Legacy.

A number of high profile sports personalities will be there on the day to encourage those the participating.

Cornish Olympic sailor, Ben Ainslie, said: 'Sport has the power to change people's lives. It excites, it motivates, it inspires. It has given me amazing opportunities to not only achieve my Olympic dreams but to also become the person I want to be.

'I fully support the Cornwall School Games as I believe it will be a fantastic opportunity for all involved to achieve their own sporting excellence.'
