Petroc two

Dart ladies seconds 0

Okehampton ladies seconds 1

WITH both teams vying for second place in the league, this was always going to be a close, competitive game.

Both teams started off slowly and Okehampton's goalkeeper Alice Wiseman had to be alert to clear from some dangerous advances into the circle by Dart with sweeper, Sandy Douglas, making some timely tackles.

As the match progressed, it was Okehampton whose game improved and quickly began to take control. Left and right backs, Nicky Pedrick and Debbie Pritchard, pushed up, getting in front of the Dart players, snuffing out any Dart attack. Rochelle Hillier had a commanding game at centre back and combined well with centre half, Louise Webber, who made sure they were first to the ball before the opposition.

Columbines applied more pressure on the Dart goal and centre forward, Alex Collins, kept the defence well occupied with her movement off the ball.

A lovely sweeping shot from fellow forward, Rachel Adams, was denied by the Dart goalkeeper. Shortly afterwards, Rachel and Annebelle Rademaker combined in a sweet move but the final shot narrowly missed the goal.

Okehampton were keeping the better shape with Anna Speak, Emma Wiseman and Sophia Marshall stretching the play on the wings. Sophia ran tirelessly down the right wing, setting up chances and creating space for her forwards and midfielder, Viv Weatherington. A free hit was taken quickly by Pedrick to Speak who passed to Weatherington. who found the space for a shot from the edge of the circle, to score and give Okehampton a well-deserved win.
