IT was the visitors that had the better of the early exchanges, and should have taken the lead in the tenth minute when a back pass to Andy Meeds was intercepted, but the winger shot over when he really should have scored.

Camelford were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area but Meeds was on hand to make a smart save. After these two let offs, the home team began to get their game together.

In the 32nd minute the Lambs were awarded a free kick when Andy Sargent was brought just outside the visitor's penalty area. Glyn Hobbs' quickly taken kick caught the Camelford's defence off guard, and nestled in the far corner of the goal. There was still no indication that the Lambs put another four goals past the visitors in the remaining hours play, as they were showing why they have been doing so well in their first season in the premier.

However, the home team doubled their lead three minutes later when Jimmy Kiely was brought down in the penalty area, by Camelford defender Dan Balsdon, resulting in a yellow card and a penalty kick which Andy Sargent riffled home. The score remained at 2-0 at the interval.

The Lambs started the second half at great pace and tempo, and it was no surprise that they increased their lead in the 50th minute, when Martyn Sullivan's left wing cross-come-shot beat Camelford's keeper Josh Colwill, and sailed into the far top corner of the net. The home team were now dominating proceedings, and any hope of Camelford staging a comeback were diminished, when Balsdon was sent off in the 55th minute, after collecting his second yellow card for a foul on Glyn Hobbs.

On the hour the Lambs made it four when Hobbs went on fine run gliding past two defenders before providing a delightful square pass for Sargent to fire home from ten yards, to net his 29th goal of the season.

The Lambs then introduced local youngster Ryan Moorhead for his debut in the first team, in place of Ben Davies, Dan Pethick replaced Sullivan shortly afterwards. In the 84th minute the home side made it five when a shot from Hobbs was blocked and the ball fell to Dan Pethick who slammed the ball home from six yards. The Camels kept plugging away and nearly opened their account in injury time when they hit the cross bar.

This was a good result for the Lambs as it takes them within two points of Camelford, who sit a place above them in the table. After a slow start the team really did put in a good performance. The two young substitutes used in the second half showed true potential, which can only be good for the club. Tavistock are now undefeated at home since November.
