THE busy season continues at Tavistock Golf Club.  The lady veterans' three ball better ball open, which is always a popular event, once again attracted a large field of more than 100 players. 

Carrying off the honours in the year's event was the Tavistock team of Patty Congo, Norma Thewlis and Gloria Westhead with 82 points; second with 81 pts was the team from Wrangaton — Mary Shepherd, Valerie Nullbone and Marion Seward, on count back from Jackie Carr, Liz Bacchus and Linda Farrant from Stover. 

The visiting team not in the top three were Linda Knape, Deidre Mackness and Angela Ward (East Devon) 79 pts.  The home team not in the top three — Sally Hills, Carolyn Crawford and Liz Loosmore (Tavistock) 80 pts.  

The best front nine —Jean Fathers, Carol West and Margaret Hearn (Whitsand Bay) 45 pts.  The best back nine —Wendy Anglis, Pat Wylie and Shirley Trevenna (Tavistock) 42pts. Nearest the pin on the seventh — Angela Baker (Libbaton).  Nearest the pin in two on the 14th — Bee Baker (Libbaton).

Norma Thewlis thanked veteran's captain Pat Pope and her team for organising such a great day and especially for ordering such lovely weather!

There was another excellent result for the juniors.  Youngsters Jamie Ninnis and Elise Williams were runners up in the Roland Bailey Trophy with 43 points  — just three points behind the winners Dave and Peggy Burge on 46.  In third place were Shaun and Janet Kiely with 41pts. 

In the ladies' Challenge Bowl and Pat Turnbull Trophy — a medal competition over 36 holes played on two consecutive days — winner of the Challenge Bowl was Jan Walls with a net 150 on count back from runner up Nicky Gawman. 

Kayleigh Cann took the honours to win the Pat Turnball Trophy with the best gross score of 161 and runner up was Gilly Jarvis with a gross 166. 

In the ladies' monthly Stableford Donna Gage with 44pts was first in division one, second Kayleigh Cann 41pts and third was Sarah Hanson with 39pts. 

In division two Hazel Cash was first with 44pts, second Jill Millichamp  43 points and, with 36 pts,  was Marion Stenhouse.  Liz Hough with 41pts came first in division three with Joy Tynan  second with 37pts on count back from Barbara Chalk.

In the men's Luxton Stableford Ross Davies topped division one with 39pts, second was David Turnbull 38pts and third was Daniel Harris with 36pts on count back from Graham Ruth. 

In division two with 40pts and winner of the Luxton Trophy was Michael Thrasher with 40pts, second was Mike Watkins 39pts and third Rob Staniland 38pts.

First in division three was Andy Pavey with 41pts, second Lee Barlett with 38pts on count back from Richard Jones.
