Activate 4

TCFC Ladies 2

THIS semi-final began at great pace with both teams passing the ball well. Tavistock's defence of Chelsea Starbuck, Carleigh Bammens, Laura Phillip and Tania Coker worked hard to keep the fast paced Activate strikers from scoring, but when they did break through with their shots, Zoe Stock in goal made some superb saves.

Tavistock's midfield Robyn Hammond and Becky McMullin worked tirelessly and battled hard to get the ball out to the wingers Kirsty Jones and TCFC player of the match Donna Hone, in turn linking up with the strikers, Sarah Martin and Donna Weeks.

Tavistock were first to score. Hone was fouled and Weeks stepped up to take the free kick and struck a superb goal that the Activate keeper was unable to touch.

Activate came back but Tavistock did their best to keep them at bay but it was not long before Activate equalised.

In the second half the game continued in a similar manner. Lauren Schuttkacker for Tavistock did well in defence to keep the pacey Activate attacker from crossing the ball in. Tavistock had some great runs down the wing with Hone and Jones, getting the ball to the pacey strikers Sarah Blowey and Becky Turner.

Tavistock were the better team in the second half. They had some great chances, including Hone hitting the cross bar, Turner 's shot going over and Martin unlucky to miss the target. Tavistock's defence and Hammond worked hard, with centre backs Starbuck and Bammens remaining solid. Activate had their share of chances with Stock pulling off more good saves. Becky Gordon and Gemma Small did their best to help put Tavistock ahead, but with no team scoring in the second half meant the game would go to extra time.

Tavistock battled hard but Activate broke, scoring two goals in quick succession. This did not dampen Tavistock's spirits but Activate scored their fourth from a superb long distance shot that fired into the back of the net.

Tavistock got one back with a pass from Coker to McMullin who shot from just outside the box — it hit the keeper's foot and went into the goal, making the score 4-2.

The game was one of the most well fought games of the season, with Tavistock's team spirit remaining high despite going behind.
