CONSERVATIVE A regained top spot in the Tavistock Snooker League as they battled hard to overcome bottom side Conservative C.

Carruthers for Con A team started things off with a convincing win over Crowl (junior), with 20 and 22 breaks, all but taking away Crowl’s will to survive.

Next up should have been a regulation win for Con A’s Babb but Dodd had other ideas. The frame saw some good snooker from both players but conversely also some poor play from both, with Dodd holding it together the best to take the black to win from under Babb’s nose.

Bell for Con A held a good early start but still had to fight off a late rally from Jago to secure the frame for his side.

Despite the best efforts of Con C’s Crowl (senior) Evans prevailed. Arguably the best frame of the night was saved until last with Lacey for Con A going head to head with Con C’s Neale. In a feast of non-stop potting from both players, it was over in a flash, with Lacey finishing the stronger of the two in an entertaining high octane frame of positive snooker.

Golf A turned out another positive performance in running top side West Devon A close before going down by the one frame in five.

Pope for Golf must have quite rightly thought he had his frame in the bag until Lawrence for West Devon stepped up with a 22 clearance with a re-spotted black ball finish to break Pope’s hopes.

Back came Golf with another black ball finish this time in their favour as Whitley edged out Morris in the closest of frames. Ruth then took the bull by the horns to put Golf in front at the expense of Taylor, as he coasted home by a large margin leaving Taylor reeling.

West Devon drew level, with Rich scoring 101 points in his demolition of Wylie.

The deciding frame went the way of West Devon as Heathman took control to oust Finnigan in a controlled frame of snooker.
