JUNIOR members of Tavistock Athletic Club were out in force recently, at the second running of Armada Athletics Network monthly 3k race in Central Park, Plymouth.

First club runner home was U17 Samuel Lane De Courtin, continuing his excellent form to finish in second place overall in a time of 10 minutes 16seconds, just seconds behind the race leader.

U15 Emily Attfield was first club female back, putting in a strong performance and finishing tenth overall in 11.24.

Less than a minute behind Emily, were U15 boys William Dax (11.33) and Josh Blake (11.39), U20 Alice Rogers (11.43) and U13 Harry Herdman (11.58), who all ran particularly well to cross the finish line within seconds of each other.

Joud White finished in 13.33, with U13s Jamie Crocker Valeron and Francesca Herdman finishing in 14.19 and 14.44 respectively.

The excellent results from these younger runners are surely testament to the quality of coaching they receive from their dedicated club coaches.

Two seniors also competed, Allan Herdman finishing in 12.23 and Kate Rogers in 15.46.

A few days later, seasoned club marathoner Ray Bennett took part in his seveth such race of the year, The Cornish Marathon at Pensilva.

Ray excelled, finishing third in his M70 category in a time of 4hrs 30mins 46secs, his second fastest time of the year.

On the same day, six TACs ran the off road 9.6miles of the Drogo 10, renowned as a tough race with stunning views. Jo Meek was first club runner and also first female to finish in a very fast 1.12.54. Other TAC times were Jon Meek 1.18.00, Stuart Ross 1.27.34, Peter Bazley 1.29.25, Paul Waldron 1.33.01 and Liz Vernon 1.52.05.
