Tavistock U16s 12

Okehampton U16s 22

Playing on a secondary pitch with a severe slope from one end to the other it was apparent that it was going to be a game of 'two halves' with the slope influencing the play.

For a spectator this was a great game to watch which went close to the end. Playing down the hill Tavistock started with some outstanding off loading and driving play and went seven points up after Seb reached for the line to score a try with Jay slotting the conversion through the uprights.

The next try was a superb solo effort from Jack who was released due to a great dummy run from James; Jack sprinted the length of the pitch to dive over in the corner and put the home side 12-0 up after 30 minutes.

Finally just on the stroke of half time the ball handling clicked with the Oke lads, which released Reece Peacock for a 50 yard run to score in the corner and make it 12-5 to the home side at half-time.

After the interval Oke regrouped and took advantage of the slope in their favour. From the kick off they chased down the ball and within a minute Pat Ewen went in under the posts. Freddie Fishley converting to bring the scores back level.

Sustained pressure from Okehampton kept Tavistock pinned back in their 22. That pressure eventually told with Brandon Horn breaking through to put the visitors in front for the first time.

By now the Oke forwards were controlling the majority of the play with the Tavistock scrum struggling as the visitors repeatedly drove Tavistock off the ball. The dominance allowed Brandon to go over for a second try with a superb conversion from Freddie Fishley added the final points of the match.

Tavistock dug deep into their defensive reserves and even tried some outrageous runs from their own line.

Player of the match for Oke was Shah Kellman.

Devonport Services U13s 29

Tavistock U13s 12

ON a clear day, two evenly matched teams played a great game of rugby. The first half saw Tavistock take the lead with a try from Jude White under the posts, after great work by Freddie Williams and Zac Gorton.

The game remained close with strong rucking by John, Tom and Archie but Devonport came right back into it with a converted try taking the score to 7-7. After half a hour the game remained close with Jacob and Luke getting a lot of possession but not quite breaking the Devonport line. However, some individual skill just before half time gave Devonport a second try.

Tavistock came out fighting in the second half and Jason Blake ripped the ball off Devonport, passing it down the line to Conner who scored in the corner.

Fierce tackling from Lachlan Fulton, Peter Bull and Joe Burbage for Tavistock saw the game remain at 12 all for a long period of the second half and with 15 minutes to go, the game could have gone either way. Again, some individual brilliance from Devonport saw them go on a roll with three tries in a row winning the game. However, for ball possession and great teamwork, Tavistock came away extremely pleased with the way they played.

Stonehouse U7s 3 tries

Tavistock U7s 7 tries

TAVISTOCK U7s season continued in inspiring style this Sunday with wins in all three matches against Stonehouse Sharks

The visitors lent two players to Stonehouse — Charlie Fletcher and William Taynton-Young who both impressed even in opposition.

Great tagging and consistent passing from all the boys resulted in the tries for Tavistock (try scorers: William Addison, Lewis, Jack, Dominic, Nathan, Finlay and Alistair) and three from Stonehouse (including one from William Taynton-Young).

Tavistock U7s 12 tries

THE second match continued in a similar vein with some great passing from William A, resulting in two tries for Matthew. William A then added two further tries of his own. A great driving run from Nathan brought home another try.

The Tavistock boys capitalised on some handling errors from Stonehouse and the tries then came in quick succession from Alistair, Dominic, Lewis, Finlay, George and Jack.

Despite some great tagging from all the boys, Stonehouse made it through the defensive line with five tries (one each from William Taynton Young and Charlie). Matthew added a final try for Tavistock to complete his hat trick.

Tavistock U7s 12 tries

THE third match saw a break in play for the two minute Remembrance Sunday silence.

Stonehouse made a dent in the substantial Tavistock lead and had bagged five tries by the end of the first half, to the visitors' four.

Again Tavistock demonstrated exemplary passing and teamwork to start the flow of tries again. Two tries each for Matthew, William A, Jack, Finlay and Edward and one apiece for Alistair and Nathan left the final score at A well deserved win for the Tavistock U7s who go from strength to strength.

Mount House 13

A MUCH improved performance by the Mount House firsts, saw them play well in both defence and attack to register a solid away win in Tiverton.

The Mount House boys displayed superior ball handling from start to finish. The forwards worked tirelessly, recycling the ball quickly, allowing the backs to launch their strikes.

In the first half Hunter Strand and Bertie Hughes (twice) scorched over the try line, finishing off excellent flowing team moves, giving Mount House a 19-0 lead at the break.

The second half was a little more even. The defence remained solid throughout, not conceding a single point in a match for the first time this season. Joe Beck finished off two exemplary handling moves, to end with two tries to his name in the 31-0 victory. Mount House continue their unbeaten run.
