TWO sporting youngsters who play for Tavistock clubs are going to great heights to raise money for a North Devon hospice.

Sister and brother Jemma and Ben McKenzie from Holsworthy are going on a sponsored climb of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles, on May 24.

Jemma, aged 14, who plays for Tavyside Badminton and Ben, 13, a member of the Tavistock Rugby Club U13s squad, are hoping to conquer the mountain in the Scottish Highlands, depending on weather conditions.

The intrepid pair are hoping to raise £2,000 to fundraise for the North Devon Hospice and in particular the Longhouse Appeal, which is an outreach centre, currently being built in Holsworthy, to support the town and all the surrounding areas.

Jemma and Ben are both enthusiastic fundraisers, as Ben successfully climbed Snowdon last year for the cause and Jemma has also participated in two river swims for the hospice. They have raised more than £1,000 in the past.

n They have an on-line giving page set up at http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/bennevischallenge2015">www.virginmoneygiving.com/team/bennevischallenge2015 where there is more information and donations will be gratefully received.
