Devon B?West 2nd XI

Tavistock 2nds v Cornwood 3rds

TAVISTOCK needed to stop the rot of four consecutive defeats when entertaining Cornwood at The Ring on Saturday.

Tavistock won the toss and batted on a good wicket. A steady start saw Tavistock reach 70 for 3 before a partnership of 100 ensued between Phil Bees and Chris Monger.

Bees batted sensibly and correctly for an excellent 94 while Monger's 37 was a mixture of stout defence and the odd aggressive stroke. Disappointingly from this position the hitters Hopkins, Webber and Milligan failed to cash in and a below par score of 199 was achieved.

Brad Nicholls 5-46 was the pick of the bowlers.

Cornwood's Richard-son brothers opened up at a rate of knots, putting on 78 for the first wicket.

Marc Webber and Hunter Strand took wickets to make the game interesting but eventually they achieved their target with four wickets to spare.
