THE sun shone for the tenth anniversary running of the Peter Tavy Plod on Bank Holiday Monday and a record turnout witnessed a great race on the tough off road course.

Favourite Jim Cole from Tavistock led from start to finish, to once again win the men's race over a slightly amended course which finished in the village square.

There were strong performances from Rebecca Mingo and Steve Watson which saw them defend their titles of first female and first local respectively and completing the prize winners were Francis Dix, Clare Walters, Peter Rigler, James Best and Fiona Phelps winning their respective age categories.

Run in tandem with the main race was a one mile fun run for children which was extremely competitive and a superb spectacle for the large crowd of onlookers.

Organisers Dave and Louisa Chanter thank The Original Pasty House for their continual sponsorship of the event together with Tavy Ales, Gibbs Kirby, the Peter Tavy Inn and Francis Dix for their support.

Dave and Louisa added: 'Finally thank you to the runners, supporters and all the marshals for making this such a great event – see you all next year!'
