South West two
Tavistock B 1
Truro C 1
TAVISTOCK men’s B team were only able to field the bare 11 players due to the unavailability of half the squad.
The resultant
positional changes and tweaks seemed not to affect their game to any great degree with the back three of Bott — who was appearing for the first time in several years — Glanville and Gott controlling the defence and stifling any attacks made by the Truro front runners.
The home midfield took command early on and good work from Campbell, Bott, Lancashire and Gunther-Leece created the necessary pressure to allow Andrews and Buckeridge-Hobbs to get several shots on goal. With the bar being hit along with the side netting a goal was not long in the coming — Andrews scoring from close range!
At 1-0 at the break things looked promising for Tavistock but the second goal, which would have provided a buffer, failed to materialise. Truro, always dangerous on the break, had shots of their own only to be denied by keeper Oxendale.
Unable to make the necessary substitutions which would have provided fresh legs the Truro goal came from a break which could not be covered. This spurred the team on to look for a winner, but the Truro defence held out.
As always it was a great effort by all 11 of the Tavistock players — a real team effort and another point to add to its tally which could well be important at the end of the season!
