A TAVISTOCK martial arts instructor has been awarded the highest accolade and has been inducted into the ‘Martial Arts Hall of Fame’.
Peter Smith, chief instructor at Brit Spirit Martial Arts, received the honour from the industry magazine, Martial Arts Illustrated, during a special awards ceremony held on November 15 at The National Brewery Museum in Staffordshire.
Along with other deserving martial artists he was presented with a Martial Arts Hall of Fame certificate as a testament to his dedication within the martial arts.
The presentation was made by Martial Arts Illustrated’s editor, Bob Sykes.
‘This is a huge honour for me’, Peter told Times Sport.
‘Bob Sykes is something of a legend in British martial arts and I was in truly awesome company, surrounded by some of the top names from taekwon-do, kickboxing, kung fu, judo, ju-jitsu - you name it, they were there!’
Peter has been involved in martial arts for more than 30 years, teaching taekwon-do, kickboxing and Little Dragons classes (for four to six year olds). He is also a fully qualified international tournament umpire and regularly officiates at local, national and international contests.
