ON a lovely sunny day at Tavistock College the top four primary school netball teams from each of the Tavistock and Okehampton areas came together to play off for the West Devon High 5 Netball finals.

Both group A with Meavy, Hatherleigh , St Andrews and Okehampton and group B with Milton Abbot, North Tawton, Bickleigh Down and South Tawton were heavily contested. The semi finals saw a superb match between St Andrews and Bickleigh Down which went to a nerve wracking shoot before St Andrews went through. The other semi saw an impressive North Tawton team overcome a good Meavy team.

In the final the quick passing St Andrews team was too much for North Tawton with a 3-1 score line.

Stuart Lord, the OCRA sports co-ordinator, said: 'There were great skills on show, a fantastic atmosphere from participants and parents. Big thanks go to sports young leaders Flo and Megan from Tavistock College, Marjons student Hayley and Angela Herrod-Taylor for officiating. St Andrews now go through to the Devon finals where we wish them well.'
