WEST Devon estate agent Mansbridge and Balment has raised more than a thousand pounds for Polzeath Surf Lifesaving Club following Tavistock's Dickensian Evening last month.

It has become tradition that Mansbridge and Balment opens its doors with mulled wine and roast chestnuts available and donations were welcomed for the lifesaving club.

Nick Henderson, managing director of Mansbridge and Balment, said: 'The staff here all work extremely hard to make the evening as enjoyable as it is. 

'To generate such a considerable sum of money for our friends in Polzeath makes the effort all the more worthwhile.  I must thank everyone involved as they gave of their time willingly and without cost – they were fantastic!

'The annual event is proving to be as popular as ever and is the curtain-raiser for the seasonal festivities to begin.  We very much look forward to next year.'
