AC Plymouth 1 TCFC U14s 2 TAVISTOCK Community Club U14s completed their season with a hard fought and well deserved victory away from home. Goals from Chambers and top scorer Burgess were complemented by a superb penalty save by player of the match Nettleship. The win capped a great season for this excellent group of young footballers, cementing fifth place for their first season in the top division, playing the best teams in Plymouth and district. Never outclassed, the Tavistock players brought the confidence of back to back league championships from the previous two seasons and combined it with a great determination and no little skill and ability to compete with every opponent and produce some excellent results. In addition to the league campaign Tavistock entered two cup competitions. The county cup saw defeat in the third round with key player Sam Ablett picking up a very nasty hip injury which kept him out for over three months. The league cup campaign saw three away games in a row with great wins at Kitto and this weekend's opponents AC Plymouth before a very hard fought and narrow 1-0 semi final defeat to league champions MAP Kings. It was another fine effort. Tavistock community football club U14s squad 2013/14: Ben Jones, Edward Nettleship, Errikos Harrison, Ffin Williams, Henry Sproats, Jack Easton, Jared Babb, Joshua Lethbridge, Louis March, Mark Lewis, Max Wright, Ross Newland, Sam Ablett, Sam Chambers, Sam Gurr, Soul Pengelly and Tom Burgess. Tavistock U14s coaching team Rob March, Darren Babb and Stewart O'Loughlin congratulated the whole squad on their efforts this season and thanked the boys and their families for the considerable support and effort they have all given over the past ten months. With some players moving on in the summer, TCFC U14s will require a couple of outfield players to complement this excellent group of boys as they compete for honours in the first division next season.
