TAVISTOCK Primary School fielded a strong side at this year's Tavistock School's Cricket tournament.
The event was held on a glorious day on June 25 at Whitchurch Cricket Club.
Tavistock faced tough opposition from both Princetown and Whitchurch in the opening rounds, but won their pool to play St Andrew's School from Buckland Monachorum in the final.
There was some excellent play from both sides but the tight fielding and accurate bowling from Tavistock kept St Andrew's score to an achievable target.
Superb batting from Nathan Prout and captain Charlie Elkington put control of the game in Tavistock's hands and the team batted intelligently, giving them a comfortable win.
It was a superb day for all the young cricketers who took part, with a high quality of cricket all round.
