Men Southern second Okehampton 3

East Devon A 0

THIS game was only heading one way — an Okehampton victory.

With keeper Andy Harvey having little to deal with the hosts dominated proceedings —Jonny Aylen, Luke Liversidge and Will Cooper allowing nothing through the defence and the midfield and forwards attacking at every opportunity.

The home side made the most of their opening short corner and the ever impressing Tom Forrester slotted the ball across to skipper Mark Parsons, who smashed the ball between the keepers legs to give them the lead.

James Rogers could have doubled their advantage before half time but his flicked shot was expertly turned onto the post to deny the winger. Comfortable and assured the hosts continued in the same vain in the second half and it was a matter of time before the second came. Forrester, again the architect, pounced on a loose ball and slotted the ball between two defenders to release Parsons who rounded the advancing keeper and pushed the ball into the empty goal.

The third came soon after with another short corner routine Josh Speak scored only his second of the season to wrap the scoring up and leave Okehampton third in the league at Christmas.

Even though there were no more goals the hosts continued to make chances with Andy Paterson nearly getting a touch on Nick Luxton's pass and Sam Whalley almost freeing Lewis Day but his pass just failed to reach his stick. This is a superb first half of the season from the first string.
