THE SON-Rise Cup has another member to add to its squad of sponsors with its recent signing of the Times Newspapers to beat this month's transfer deadline!

The newspaper group will be sponsoring the popular, fun tournament on May 23, 24 and 25 in Tavistock which brings together abled bodied footballers and those with disability or learning difficulties.

The Times is covering the cost of tournament medals, referees and a match ball.

Carol Simpson, Times' general manager, said: 'The Times has been part of the Son-Rise Cup since its inception by promoting it through our sports pages. We are happy to be one of the many local businesses who sponsor this fabulous and worthy tournament and wish it every success.'

Allen Lewis, the co-founder of the football tournament, said: 'Ten years of Son-Rise cup will be celebrated  this year. Robin Rich, the chairman of the event, told me that he is thrilled the Times is sponsoring the big charity match at Langsford Park which promotes the good in football and autism awareness.'

Robin himself added: 'I love the support this event gets from all our local businesses and thank you from all our committee to the Times for their support!'
