THIS week at Yelverton Golf Club the winner was the weather. Although the course was in play the competition schedule was severely hit with the odd temporary green creeping in to the equation.

This affected the mid-week Stableford, ladies and the South West Winter Foursomes finals. However, the junior section managed to find a window for their coaching and ‘Golf Access’ programme.

Golf Access gives the perfect opportunity for the juniors to show off their newly acquired skills. This could be superb putting, driving their ball straight down the fairway or a great short game. Golf teaches players all of these things but when a show of honesty raises its head then that’s when you really appreciate the benefits of the golfing game.

Young Isaac Thomas showed just this trait when he declared a penalty stroke on himself in one of the Golf Access competitions. For this, Isaac has received the Dustin Johnson monthly award for November.
