CHALLENGING playing conditions made scoring difficult at the Devon Men’s Veteran’s Golf Association President’s Salver meeting held at Tavistock Golf Club.

With 174 players from 36 clubs across the county competition was certain to be keen for the trophy in this opening event of the season. In a three ball Stableford competition the Bovey Castle team of Malcolm Potter, Barry Goff and David Pether won the President’s salver with 103 points.

Harvey Taylor, Alastair Grieve and Barry Ravenscroft of Stover also had 103pts, but the Bovey team won on countback. In third were the home team from Tavistock of Mike Roe, Brian Goble and Chris Morley coming close with 99 pts.

The winner of the Harry Keen Salver for the best overall Stableford score was Ray Lavis, Borringdon Park.
