YELVERTON Golf Club’s Geoff Callicott and George Keppie won the Pounders 2018 Pairs competition with a score of 44 points.

Geoff’s chip-in two on the par four fourth hole to score five points got the pair off to a great start towards their winning total. Half of the entry fees from this better ball event was donated to the Pounders’ Captain’s Charity, which this year is St Luke’s Hospice.

Gilly Jarvis, the only lady golfer in a field of 28 competitors, won this weeks’ club mid-week Stableford with an impressive display of golf, with N Blanchard the runner up.

Yelverton had 35 lady entries at this year’s Norton Rose Bowl and Stableford competition. Di Friend had a superb two on the par four 14th hole. Scores were however hard to come by and the result for this veterans’ trophy could only be decided on count back. Vying for the trophy was Jaqueline Moir and Jane Hulbert with the latter winning with a better back nine score. The Norton Rose Bowl has been running since 1964 and is for ladies of 55 years of age and over.
